SPT: Comfort Foods...

This week's challenge... "what do you crave when it's cooler? what is your comfort food? what does it do for you? will you share the recipe (or at least, the name of the place where you get it?)"
My comfort food for the fall isn't necessarily a "food"... it's actually a great cup of HOT CHOCOLATE! It's interesting that this challenge arose, because just the other day i was thinking about how the cooler season is upcoming and i was dying for a sip of some delicious hot cocoa, with marshmallows and whipped cream, of course. Just the sound of such thought makes my mouth water! My husband and i discovered COCOMOTION (by Mr. Coffee) about 3 years ago in college. My roommate, Jaclyn, introduced the great product to us, and we have used it ever since. It's a hot chocolate maker... It stirs while heating your gourmet treat, not too hot, not too cold, JUST RIGHT! I recommend this to all hot cocoa fans. The best powder (i think) is Stephen's Gourmet Hot Chocolate! It's pretty amazing, they have a ton of different flavors that can satisfy in any mood. Try it and i'm sure you'll love it!

SPT: Summer Heat...

I have been slacking on spt challenges lately because a lot has been going on... So i hope to be back on track. This week asks what am i doing to stay cool this summer? Well, it is definitely a challenge to stay cool here in Vegas, the temperature gets up to 119 degrees!! SO what have i been doing? Well, staying indoors of course! Even the news here recommends that we keep our outdoor activities to a minimum because of the excessive heat! So i have just been staying inside the house hanging out and playing with my brand new daughter! Also, thanks to the heat, i got my hair cut... having long hair was just making me hotter! Next week we are taking a little week getaway to wonderful Waterton, Canada... it is usually quite cooler there and that is my main getaway to keep cool for this summer!

SPT: America...

Let's Play Ball...

Today's challenge, Showcase America... I have decided to showcase BASEBALL, the ALL AMERICAN SPORT! The modern version of the game of baseball developed in North America in the eighteenth century. The historians believe that it evolved from earlier bat-and-ball games, rounders, brought to North America by British and Irish immigrants. By the late nineteenth century, baseball was widely recognized as the NATIONAL SPORT of the UNITED STATES. Baseball is one of my favorite sports and what better time to welcome back Michelle then during BASEBALL SEASON! I was lucky enough to grow up with a father who has a deep passion for sports, BASEBALL being NUMBER 1. We grew up in Miami, and i remember my dad always taking us to the ball games, my older sister and i just loved it! In 1997, we had season tickets and that was the year the Marlins won the World Series! It was such a great season for Marlins Fans. I remember going to the games that season and always trying to get on the jumbo-tron screen.
Baseball is definitely a welcome back to AMERICA... from the love of the game, to baseball caps, to infamous ball park hot dogs and ice cream, to extra innings, and especially to the seventh inning stretch (TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME)...

Baseball? Some say it's just a game - as simple as a ball and a bat. Yet, as complex as the American spirit it symbolizes. It's a sport, business, a love - and sometimes even religion.
~Ernie Harwell, "The Game for All America," 1955

SPT: What's in MY wallet?

"Everything I need is right here in this
extraordinary purse."
-Dorothy Kilgallen

I love purses! Usually a woman will have a shoe fetish, my fetish is PURSES! This one happens to be my favorite! One, because it's BIG! Two, because it's RED! (my favorite color!) I actually should start carrying around a smaller purse only because i have noticed, the bigger the purse, the bigger the mess. I usually change purses often and clean out the mess, but since i bought this one about a year ago at ALDO, i have been quite attached and i have rarely changed it.
Here are some things in my wallet:
~sunglasses - a MUST!
~ wallet - money, credit cards, DL, the necessities...
~ check book
~ band aids - always prepared!
~ floss - just in case
~ lotion
~ some mail
~ keys
~ pictures (another fetish)
~ a toothbrush - because i just went to the dentist and they always give you a toothbrush
~ gift cards and receipts
~ pens and markers
~ nail polish and a file
~ Tylenol
~ always some little snack, usually a granola bar
~ cell phone - can't go anywhere without that!
~ ultra sound pictures of my baby!

Well, i think that's about it! Soon my purse will change, i am very excited to soon be carrying around a diaper bag/purse full of new experiences and surprises! Hope you enjoyed a little glimpse of my "wallet".

SPT: Mother's day...

I have recently been really interested in a couple of friends blogs which answer a question or challenge every Tuesday. I then did a lot of searching to find which blogger is posting these challenges so i can participate. I am honored today to post my first spt challenge about my mother. The challenge, what would i like you to know about my mom...
Well, let me start off by saying that i have the BEST mom in the universe! Since i can remember, she has always put me and my siblings first, no matter what! We were always her number one priority, from taking us to school, games, activities, get-togethers, birthday parties, to picking us up from school early if we were sick, making sure we ate at least 3 meals a day, giving hugs and kisses if we were hurt or just because she simply loved us, or even cleaning our messes. My mother was always involved with our lives, which sometimes wasn't fun, but now that i look back, i am so grateful to her for her constant prayers and caring words to me. She, in fact, is the person who taught me to cook, clean, speak, have fun, be thoughtful, give service, be a good wife and mother and everything else i know today. Without her i would not have become the person i am today. She is the greatest example of selfless love and service. If i could grow up and raise a family half as good as she has done, then i will be happy! There is no other woman in the world who could have so much faith and strength with the trials and hardships that my mother has endured. She is truly a hero and an inspiration in my life.
This mother's day i did not have the opportunity to see my mother, but i want her to know how grateful i am for all that she has done for me, i am grateful to her for all the sacrifices she has made in my behalf, i am grateful for her teaching me about the gospel of Jesus Christ and for her testimony, i am grateful for her constant love and support, i am grateful for her beautiful smile and always looking for the good in everything, i am grateful for how hard she works and her constant efforts of always giving me, not only what i need, but all the things i want, I am so grateful for her teaching me all that she knows, and i am most of all grateful that she is MY MOM and that i will be able to live with her for eternity!!
MOM, I LOVE YOU!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY...
can't wait to see you this weekend!
Loves... <3
