Let's Play Ball...
Today's challenge, Showcase America... I have decided to showcase BASEBALL, the ALL AMERICAN SPORT! The modern version of the game of baseball developed in North America in the eighteenth century. The historians believe that it evolved from earlier bat-and-ball games, rounders, brought to North America by British and Irish immigrants. By the late nineteenth century, baseball was widely recognized as the NATIONAL SPORT of the UNITED STATES. Baseball is one of my favorite sports and what better time to welcome back Michelle then during BASEBALL SEASON! I was lucky enough to grow up with a father who has a deep passion for sports, BASEBALL being NUMBER 1. We grew up in Miami, and i remember my dad always taking us to the ball games, my older sister and i just loved it! In 1997, we had season tickets and that was the year the Marlins won the World Series! It was such a great season for Marlins Fans. I remember going to the games that season and always trying to get on the jumbo-tron screen.
Baseball is definitely a welcome back to AMERICA... from the love of the game, to baseball caps, to infamous ball park hot dogs and ice cream, to extra innings, and especially to the seventh inning stretch (TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME)...
Baseball? Some say it's just a game - as simple as a ball and a bat. Yet, as complex as the American spirit it symbolizes. It's a sport, business, a love - and sometimes even religion.
