Lucy eats...

This messy face is attributed to her first tastes of rice cereal. She is not a fan. But how could i blame her? I wouldn't eat it.

We got a few smiles out of little L*, let these smiles not be mistaken with the thought that she enjoyed her first experience with food. Actually, i think it's safe to say that the experience itself wasn't a bad one. But that the first tastes of something other than mom's milk was not something worth smiling about.

Big sister, K*, made sure she was being fed, even if she didn't like it. In fact, K* has to eat a few things she doesn't like either [i.e. veggies].

L* would spit and pucker her lips so she wouldn't have to eat the horrid stuff.

Spit, puckered lips, messy face and still as darling as can be. It must be those ice blues.
Beauties, i tell ya.

We are moving on from rice cereal to green and orange veggies. I have a feeling she will like them. Crossing my fingers.

Lovin' my two.

I just can't help but talk about these two. They are the loves of my life [well, besides the mister, of course]. At times they can be a bit noisy and high maintenance, but their smiles and hugs make it all worth it, don't ya think? A few thoughts on these two...

Kate...
She is full of life, that girl is.
She is a chatter box... non stop.
She says she wants to be a dancing girl when she gets bigger, oh yeah and a singing girl too.
She dances and sings around the house all. day. long. I love it, i do.
She is so independent, not sure i'm ready for all that yet, but it's coming without permission for me... she puts on her clothes all by herself, she goes to the bathroom all by herself, she goes in her carseat all by herself, she buckles all by herself... you get the picture.
She loves the park and being outdoors, she tells me it's a nice day everyday so that she can go outside and play.

One day last week we went to the park with some friends, mimi watched lucy... we got into the car and Kate said, "ok, mom, it's just you and me," it melted my heart.
She loves to ride bikes.
She is a lover of candyland.
She loves art work and loves to have it displayed for all to see.

Reading is her favorite past time.
Tinker belle is her favorite fairy.
Her favorite color changes daily.
She sometimes starts her sentences with, "actually..." or "well mom..."
When she should be saying "me too" she instead says "me neither"
Painting is a daily activity of hers.
Making her sister laugh is one of her many hobbies.

She doesn't like to fall asleep alone.
She is cranky when she wakes up before 7:30am.
She loves to talk to random people.
She is very polite.
She loves fruit, fruit snacks, pretzels, bagels, eggs and chicken.
When she is mad you can usually get her to laugh or smile within a few seconds.
She is ticklish.
She is a joy [most of the time].
She will be going to preschool in the fall!

Love you Kate.

Lucy...
Is a quiet one.
She is the sweetest little baby ever, really.
She loves to be cuddled.
Her blues catch much attention.
Her face just lights up when kate is around.
She is such a happy baby, especially in the mornings.
She's a good eater, can you tell?
She doesn't know what to think about the bath.
She loves toys and trying to grab them.
She babbles and has mumbled ma ma ma ma ma ma a few times.

She's almost sitting up all by herself.
She loves grabbing her toes and feet.
She loves to sleep [she sleep best in her own bed].
She doesn't quite like having her hair brushed.
She loves all things that rattle.

She doesn't mind the camera in her face.
But she does mind the flash.
She knows and loves her mom, dad and sister.
She is sensitive. [mostly to loud noises or screaming or cheering]
She likes music.

She likes attention.
She loves to smile.
It's a bit of a challenge to get her to giggle.
She likes dogs.
And she LOVES blankets... she loves to be cuddled in them, have them in her hand and by her face.

Love you Lucy.

The end. Thanks for reading.

For Valentine's day i surprised daniel with LOVE tickets. We've been obsessed with the Beatles lately and i only found it fitting to buy LOVE tickets for the day of LOVE. He was surprised, completely surprised! [and it's really hard to surprise this boy.] Sandy and Colby agreed to watch the girls and take them to our ward activity that was on the same day as the show. Thank you!
Daniel and i had a great time out... and we absolutely LOVEd the show, it was absolutely one of the best cirque shows i have seen. I just want to sing the Beatles all day...

U-N-L-V!

Daniel took Kate to the UNLV game on Saturday. They were decked out in REBEL RED! It was a big game with a long time rival [BYU]. The rebs did great! Kate had a good time and even napped during the second half.
As for Lucy and I, we had a relaxing time hanging out at the house watching the game on the tube.

GOOOOOOOOOOO REBELS!!!!

Brianhead, Utah.

A few weekends ago we vacationed [for a day] in brianhead, utah. We drove up on a thursday night and slept at ron and kathie's condo, friday was spent snowboarding, playing in the snow, watching movies and playing games.

I'm not that fond of the snow, but this was gorgeous. I was smitten with the fresh powder and i wanted to be a kid again... playing in the snow, making snow angels, sledding. I'm glad kate enjoyed herself... i'm glad that she gets to experience the snow young [unlike myself, i didn't see snow for the for the first time until i was 12 yrs old.]. However, i am so glad we do not live in it.

Colby, Sandy, Daniel and Darren had a great time boarding, They left early in the a.m. and came back around 2:30 for lunch, then they headed back out for another hour or so.

Kate, Lucy and i stayed behind in the condo. We watched movies, played games and while Lucy was napping kate and i snuck out to the front of the condo and played in the snow. She loved it, absolutely loved it.

When Daniel and Darren came back we wanted to go sledding... as we were getting ready and gearing up, kate totally fell asleep on the floor... [it may look like she was completely face down, but i think that's because her hood is over her face, she did have her face turned to the side.]

That girl cracks me up!

Dear Brianhead,
Thanks for a great time.
We'll be seeing you.
Love, The Dyes.

Doctor Trip.

Last month i took both the girls in for their check-ups. Kate's 2 year well check [although she is 2 1/2] and Lucy's 4 month well check [today she is 5 months old!] The girls proved to be on the same growth path and the doctor informed me that i make cream as milk and that the girls are doing great! He was super impressed by Kate, her vocabulary and how she already talks in clear full sentences. Lucy didn't disappoint either, she was also advanced since she is babbling already. I am so lucky to be the mama to these two amazing little girlies. While at the doc, the girls got their shots, Kate was not a happy camper, she yelled and screamed and cried, we had to hold her down... then immediately after her shot, she said while still whimpering, "oh, that wasn't that bad." Sometimes she makes things so complicated! Lucy did got 4 shots and did great on the first two, the girl didn't even flinch, the 3rd and 4th weren't as pleasant, but she got over it within about 10 seconds. Here are their stats:

Kate dislikes:
